I quickly concluded that the Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness is the Best Dog Cooling Vest for Humid Weather before I even took it out of the package. And I can say with absolute certainty that my initial instincts were correct because this product is hands-down the best in this particular category.
First of all, most dog owners are afraid to try a new vest because they may not know how to use one, or they fear they’re going to have a difficult time putting it on their dog and taking it off again. If your dog is fussy and uncooperative, you have nothing to worry about because mine is too, yet I never have trouble putting it on or taking it off whatsoever.
Safety is another issue entirely, but I don’t mean to make that sound negative or scary. I think this is also one of the safest dog cooling vests on the market right now. I didn’t give it the highest score, which you learn about below, but I believe that it’s far above average in the area of safety.
As far as cooling effectiveness is concerned, I can say with certainty that this vest has kept my dog cool. Was it the best one that I reviewed and analyzed? No, but it excelled in this area nonetheless and it was certainly one of my top picks.

I did notice minor design flaws that I’ll go into greater detail about below, but in actuality, I still think the overall design is incredible even though it ended up receiving the lowest score in this category. This was my favorite vest in this category because the sizing couldn’t have gone more perfectly than it did. The highest-ranking product is the SGODA Dog Cooling Vest Harness. I gave it a 98 out of 100, because my dog slipped in and out of this cooling vest without a hiccup. Everything went perfectly smoothly every single time.
My least favorite product in this category also received an excellent score. It’s called the Evaporative Cooling Dog Vest, and I gave it an 87 out of 100. An 87% is well above average as you can imagine. I knocked off a few points because my dog struggled with this vest a little bit, but it wasn’t too much trouble.
The same thing goes for the Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness. My dog liked wearing the vest and the lightweight material didn’t cause any unnecessary restrictions or anything like that, but it was slightly more difficult to take this vest off and put it on again when compared to the other cooling vests that I researched.

In the category of Safety, I also gave the Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness a respectable score that is well above average. The final score that I awarded this vest was 93 out of 100, which effectively places it in 4th place.
Why did I deduct 7 points from the score? It had nothing to do with the product being unsafe if that’s what you’re ultimately concerned about. This product is very safe and effective.
I only deducted 7 points because if you aren’t being careful, you could accidentally adjust the Velcro straps around the neck a little bit too tightly. So, please, be gentle when placing this vest around your dog’s neck because you do not want to accidentally make the Velcro so tight that you restrict much-needed airflow.
The top-ranked product is the SGODA Dog Cooling Vest Harness. This vest received a 97 out of 100, which is a great score and one that it deserves. There were no safety issues or potential problems that I can foresee happening.
The bottom-ranked cooling vest is called the LUCOLOVE Lightweight Dog Cooling Vest. I gave it an 87 out of 100, which as we’ve talked about, this score is well above average.
I lower the score because this vest doesn’t offer UV protection like many of the other dog cooling vests I’ve shared with you today.

As far as Cooling Effectiveness is concerned, the Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness was very effective in this particular category. In fact, I thought it was so effective that I gave it a 92 out of 100. This is the 5th place score, which doesn’t seem great on the surface, but it really does a good job of keeping dogs cool.
Why did I give it a 92% score?
For starters, I love the lightweight material and its ability to keep my dog instantly cool. The vest has 5 layers worth of material, which actually delivers intense cooling power because the middle layers will store and absorb water and it pulls heat from the dog as the water evaporates. Dogs can play outside wearing this vest on the most humid and hot summer days and feel very comfortable as long as they have this vest on keeping them cool.
The highest rank vest was the SGODA Dog Cooling Vest Harness. You might be noticing a common theme here. I gave this vest a 96 out of 100 because it was incredibly effective and it kept my dog cooler than any of the other vests.
The lowest ranked product in this category is the Evaporative Cooling Dog Vest. I gave it an 86 out of 100. It worked pretty well, but it just wasn’t as effective as the other vests.

Overall Design
In the category labeled Overall Design, I unfortunately gave the Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness the lowest score in this overall category. Now, before you start getting upset or worried that the design is faulty to faulty to own, please understand that I gave it an 89 out of 100.
Would you be upset if your child scored an 89% on one of their tests? I didn’t think so!
I gave it this score because I really liked the adjustable Velcro straps and they made it easy to put the vest on my dog. But overall, this vest wasn’t suitable for every dog because it didn’t have the largest variety in sizing options, which I’ll go into more detail below.
So, I had to lower the score because the sizes were only S-XL. If they had more sizes available, I would’ve been even more impressed with the overall design.
And I was also concerned about pulling the Velcro straps too tightly and constricting the dog’s airway, which is a definite concern and something to think about.
Once again, the top-rated product in this category is the SGODA Dog Cooling Vest Harness. The overall design was flawless in my opinion when it came to this vest.

Sizing
Believe it or not, in the Sizing category I gave the Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness the best score out of all, which was a 96 out of 100.
Now, you might be confused since I previously mentioned that I didn’t like that they didn’t have enough sizes available for this product. This is true, but in this particular case, I am talking more about accuracy than available size options.
I think they did a phenomenal job when it comes to putting together their sizing chart. Based on the measurements that they share, if your dog is an S, then it should likely fit into this vest perfectly as mine did.
Would it be better if they had a capital XS or an XXL size for smaller or larger dogs? Certainly, but you cannot deny the accuracy of their sizing chart, which was perfect in my opinion.
On the other hand, for once the SGODA Dog Cooling Vest Harness didn’t wind up in 1st place. It was the lowest-ranked product in this category with an 89 out of 100. Still a very respectable score, but adding water to the vest throws off the sizing chart and makes it less effective. This was not a huge problem but it’s something to be aware of.

Many dog owners rightfully wonder if they’ll be able to attach their dog leash directly to the cooling Vest Harness. Since it’s strapped onto the dog, it makes sense that they put a D ring or loop on the harness that you can attach a D ring to.
Unfortunately, when the manufacturer designed the Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness, they did not give the ability to attach a dog leash to it. So, this isn’t going to be an option.
Please note that it is still easy enough to put a collar on your dog while he or she is wearing this particular dog cooling vest. The vest isn’t going to get in the way of its regular collar, so you should have no trouble putting it on before taking your dog for a walk.
Was The Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness Designed For Larger Dogs?
I guess it depends on your definition of a larger dog. The largest size is XL. This breaks down to neck size of 22 – 28.3 inches, a chest size of 31.5 – 39.4 inches, and a back length of 17.7 inches.
If your dog is larger than any of these measurements, then Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness isn’t going to be the best choice. It would unfortunately be a bit too small for your dog if it doesn’t fit this particular sizing structure.
It would have made sense for Pecute to add larger sizes including XXL or XXXL for larger dogs. And on the opposite side of the coin, they could have added an XS for smaller dogs as well. Maybe they’ll eventually begin selling a wider variety of sizes in the future.

The Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness uses two different strategies to keep dogs cool on hot and humid summer days. And is very effective at both options.
For starters, before putting the vest on your dog, you need to soak it in cool water ahead of time. Make sure the water is cool to the touch. After soaking the vest for five minutes, take it out of the basin or receptacle and thoroughly ring out all of the excess water.
Next, put the dog cooling Harness on your dog’s back and secure the Velcro straps around the neck and chest/belly area.
The water soaking the vest is the most important part of the cooling process. The sun will begin to evaporate the water in the vest, which in turn will draw heat out of your dog effectively cooling it down in the process. This is safe, ingenious, and very healthy for your dog on a hot summer’s day when the humidity is hard to handle.
The other way that the Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness protects against heat is via the reflective surface. Believe it or not, this cooling vest can reflect the heat with UPF 50+ sun protection.
