I chose the Evaporative Cooling Dog Vest as one of the top products to review because I realized that it delivered the Best Value and it was the Best Budget Dog Cooling Vest that I could find.
Particularly, I thought it was refreshing to review this product because it was so affordable. But that’s not the only good thing about it. Far from it.
I love how this product measured up against the 5 other dog cooling vests that I also reviewed at the same time. In fact, this is what I learned:
First of all, I felt it was really easy to put the vest on my dog and then take it off at the end of the day. While my dog struggled with it a little bit because he didn’t like the loop at the end that went around his tail, it was otherwise a very easy experience.
My dog never bit me, scratched at me, or growled at me when putting on this vest, which is definitely a good thing and it’s important to know.
I thought the Evaporative Dog Cooling Vest was one of the safest vests available in the dog cooling vest category, which means I definitely like it a lot. It did an adequate job cooling my dog and it also has UV protection, which is a nice added bonus.
As far as Cooling Effectiveness is concerned, I felt like this vest did a wonderful job keeping my dog cool on a hot summer day. Was it as good as the other products? It was slightly less effective but it still worked incredibly well for such an affordable product.
I really like the way that this product is designed. They chose to use plastic buckles instead of Velcro, which definitely seems like it has its benefits. Some people complain that the Velcro gets very dirty and grimy, which will never be a problem with the sturdy plastic belt buckles.

In this particular case, the Evaporative Cooling Dog Vest received a highly-respectable score of 87 out of 100. In this particular case, this phenomenal score turned out to be the lowest score out of the group. This doesn’t mean the product isn’t good. It just means that my dog struggled just a little when it came to putting the vest on and taking it off.
The highest-rated product in this group is the SGODA Dog Cooling Vest Harness. My pooch had the easiest time getting in and out of this vest, so I gave it a 98 out of 100, which is a near-perfect score and deservedly so.
Why did I lower the Evaporative Cooling Dog Vest’s score? I, unfortunately, fumbled a little bit when I would put it around the dog’s neck and then secure the rest by strapping it to his body.

In the Safety category, I gave the Evaporative Cooling Dog Vest the second-highest score, which happened to be a 96 out of 100. In my estimation, this vest is very safe and it’s a great choice to use because they created it using three-layer construction for maximum heat transfer. And it was also designed with UV protective fabric to keep dogs safe from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun, which is great for hot summer days.
The highest-rated product received a 97 out of 100. It was once again the SGODA Dog Cooling Vest Harness. I like this product a lot and it turned out to be my favorite of the 6 that I reviewed. It only edged out the Evaporative Cooling Vest by one point because I felt the vest covered my dog just a little bit better.
Lastly, the LUCOLOVE Lightweight Dog Cooling Vest was the product with the lowest score since it only received an 87 out of 100. Remember, 87 is a highly respectable score and it’s well above average, so there’s nothing wrong with the safety features on this vest. It didn’t have UV protection as far as I could tell, so I knocked off a few points.

For Cooling Effectiveness, the Evaporative Cooling Dog Vest received an 86 out of 100, which also happens to be the lowest score out of the group.
Why did I lower the score? In truth, after following all of the instructions and then putting the vest on my dog, I noticed that it was working and it did help to cool him down. But it didn’t work as effectively as the other products. My dog was still a little on the warm side, although I wouldn’t say he was hot or near heat exhaustion by any means.
In first place, once again the SGODA Dog Cooling Vest Harness was awarded the highest marks. This vest did a phenomenal job of keeping my dog very cool on a really hot summer day, which is why I liked it so much.

In the Overall Design category, the Evaporative Cooling Dog Vest scored better than most of the other vests that I tested, although it did not win the top prize. In fact, it came in fourth place with a highly respectable score of 93 out of 100.
If you were to compare this grade to a grade you might receive on your report card in school, the Evaporative Dog Cooling Vest gets an A. Because I really liked the design and I felt like it did a good job of keeping my dog safe and protected at all times, which is exactly what you want from a cooling vest of this type.
The highest-rated product is once again the SGODA Dog Cooling Vest Harness, which received a 98 out of 100. I felt that it had the best design out of all of the cooling vests that I tried and analyzed.

As far as the category Sizing goes, I gave the Evaporative Cooling Dog Vest a really great score, which turns out to be 92 out of 100. This score is the fourth-best in the category, yet it’s a great score nonetheless because I didn’t feel like the sizing chart was off by any means.
Even better, the sizing of this product is great because it goes all away from XS to capital XXXL, which means it’s adjustable to eight different sizes, so it’s a great choice for many different breeds of dogs.
The high-scoring product in this category is the Pecute Dog Cooling Vest Harness. I gave it a 96 out of 100 because it was obviously near perfect as far as their overall sizing chart goes. My dog fit perfectly based on his size, which was a nice surprise, to say the least.
The product to rank last in this category is usually the product that ends up in first place, which is the SGODA Dog Cooling Vest Harness. I gave it an 89 out of 100, which is still a very good score. The reason I lower the score is that the vest tends to stretch a bit after it gets wet, so it becomes a bigger vest. Thankfully, the vest started out a little small for my dog to begin with, so the added stretched-out material wasn’t a major problem for me.

First, fill a bathtub or basin, or sink with cool water. After the receptacle is filled up with cool water, gently place the vest inside the water and let it soak there for a couple of minutes.
To make the water absorbed faster, rub the vest together while underwater and it will soak up the cool water as quickly as possible.
After the vest is soaked all the way through, please remove it from the water and give it a good squeeze, ringing out the excess water. You can also pat the vest dry with a towel to remove the excess water as well.
Now the only thing you have to do is to put it on your dog. Place it around its body and adjust the chest straps and neck straps to the right size so it’s the ideal fit.
Is It Possible To Walk Your Dog While It Wears The Evaporative Dog Cooling Vest?
Yes, the manufacturer thought of everything when they designed the Evaporative Dog Cooling Vest. So you won’t have to worry about taking it off your dog when bringing him or her for a walk. In fact, I highly recommend putting it on your dog when bringing it for a walk on very hot days in the middle of the summer.
They added a hole on the back of a harness. This hole is the perfect place to loop a D ring around it. You can then connect your dog leash to the D ring and bring him to the park, or walk her around the neighborhood, or take your pooch wherever you plan to go.
The material is very sturdy after adding the D ring, so you don’t have to worry about the dog ripping it or tearing it from pulling too hard. The hole on the back of the harness is very stable and strong, so there’s nothing to fear whatsoever.
Does The Evaporative Dog Cooling Vest Have Velcro Straps To Keep It Safely Secured On My Dog’s Body?
Although many dog cooling vests Incorporated Velcro straps into their design, this particular vest went in an entirely different direction. Instead of using Velcro straps, they actually went with straps that have a plastic buckle on the end.
Some people prefer using the straps of the plastic buckle. They say the Velcro wears out easily and becomes grimy and grungy and it doesn’t work very well after a while.
You’ll never have this problem with the buckle, so if you’re worried about Velcro wearing out, you have nothing to fear because the buckles on the straps are designed sturdy, strong, and made of a hard plastic that will not break very easily.
